Plug valves are quarter-turn valves that use a cylindrical or tapered plug to control the flow of liquids or gases. When the valve is open, the plug's ports align with the flow path, allowing fluid to pass through. Turning the valve 90 degrees rotates the plug to block the flow, closing the valve.
